DAR #248. B.S. 1866. Lawyer, Valparaiso IN. Son of Jesse Johnston and Rebecca Pickett. Initiated September 30, 1865. Goodspeed's history of Porter County says he attended "Valparaiso Male and Female College four years, and finishing his literary education in 1866 by graduating from Asbury University . . . ." Practiced law in Valpariso, then Chesterton, then in 1868-69 back to Valpariso. Married 1866 Belle Hopkins (died 1870); married 1878 Almira Hankinson.
