Homecoming Update
Homecoming was a major success! The
weekend started out with a graduate
event at Murphy’s Law Bar & Grill
in Carolina Forest, South Carolina.
Then, our chapter, along with the
lovely ladies of Alpha Delta Pi, won
the Coastal Carolina University
Haunted Homecoming Talent Show
and placed second overall in the
Coastal Carolina Homecoming Week.
On Saturday, we hosted a tailgate
before the Homecoming game against
the Appalachian State University
Mountaineers. The Chanticleers may
have suffered a 23-7 loss, but our
brothers had a great time with the
graduates who came to visit.
Welcome Nu Pledge Class
This semester we initiated 7 brothers into the Nu Pledge Class.
We also had the honor of initiating Section Chief William
Valentine (Florida 1967) as an affiliate brother of the Mu Beta
Chapter. He worked diligently and with extreme enthusiasm
to make sure our chapter was successful in everything we did.
He was an integral part of helping us grow and develop as a
colony back in 2010.

\r\nFamily Weekend Update
The turnout for this year’s family weekend was the largest yet. Family weekend kicked off with
a cookout on Saturday, then a tailgate for the families near the stadium before a home football
game. The Chanticleers fell short, losing to the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawks
45-20. We did not let the loss ruin our weekend, and kept on with the festivities. On Sunday, as a
farewell to our parents, we hosted a family Low Country Boil. We are extremely thankful for our
amazing families and grateful for the opportunity to spend time with them. It takes the best to
raise the best!
Community Service
As part of our community service, we adopted a highway on the edge of Coastal Carolina
University’s campus. Throughout the semester we completed two highway cleanups.
This semester on Friday mornings, our brotherhood participated in BackPack Buddies. Part
of our service to their organization was to pack lunches for local school children. BackPack
Buddies helps provide children from low-income households with kid friendly groceries for the
weekend when free school lunches and breakfasts are not provided.
Our chapter also partnered
with Alpha Phi Omega service
organization and held a mental health
discussion panel.
Sigma Kappa Sorority hosted their
annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We
had brothers participate in the event
and make donations in support of the
Alzheimer’s Association.
To finish out the semester, we
participated in a philanthropy
event hosted by recreation sports
management with the proceeds
going to United Way Non-profit
organization.
