Letter from Our TFI President
Billy Leslie '93– TFI President
some real progress in getting
old debt paid off.
I became president of TFI
in April of 2012. Since that
time I have been working
with the undergraduate cabinet and TFI treasurer,
Brian Grooms, to get a handle on old debt owed to the
chapter by graduates, as well
debt the chapter owes to
TFI. The graduate brother debt owed to the chapter
has fallen from about $25,000
to just over $14,000. Several
are on payment plans and
continue to pay monthly. Others have committed to
pay, but have not started yet,
and some brothers have either
not responded to requests or
we don’t have updated contact information. All in all,
the response has been very
positive and we have made
We have done needed repairs
to the ceiling of the study
room/floor of room 2. The
ceiling was ripped down and
all floor joists were reinforced. We also remodeled
the bathroom in the apartment
with a new sink, shower,
flooring & drywall. Many
graduates and undergraduates
both helped out during the
work weekend on January
5th. Special thanks go out to
Brian Grooms, Bobby Norwood & Seth Bradley.
Tad Engle has stepped up to
become our VP of Fundraising. He has done a great job
with getting a lot of the
younger graduates involved in
the 1848 Club.
We look forward to expanding the 1848 club idea with
new levels of involvement. In the near future, we
will be sending out some
type of survey to ask brothers
what they would like to see
in our future plans. Our ultimate goal would, of course,
be to build a new
house. With that being our
ultimate goal, smaller goals
need to be met first. We will
be working with the owner of
the adjacent lot to purchase
the property. We will be
starting a capital campaign to
raise funds for the purchase
of the lot and eventually
build the new house.
I look forward to working
with the undergraduate and
graduates both to reach all of
our goals.

I wanted to introduce myself to all of you. Most of
you already know me and
for those who do not, my
name is Tad Engle. While
with the chapter, I served
as Graduate Relations
chair, Corresponding Secretary, and President. I
graduated in Dec 2011
with my Bachelors in Accounting. I currently live in
Franklin, TN and work for
a company called IRON

Graduate Brother
THE
I was recently asked by
Billy Leslie and Brian
Grooms to take over the
management of the 1848
Club. While I transition
into this role, I would like
to let you all know that we
are going to work very
hard in continuing a transparent and beneficial donating platform that will
give back to the chapter

that we all love, while also
creating opportunities to
give back to you, the graduates, during events such
as Homecoming and Pig
Dinner.
I would personally like to
invite all of you to be part
of 1848 club. As for my
major goal while being
chair of this position I
would like to see the
membership of this club at
least double over the next
few years. This goal cannot fully be obtained without the help of you, the
graduates of Theta Tau. I
challenge all of you to
reach out to your close
friends in the chapter and
your pledge class to all
join and we will undoubtedly reach this goal.
I also would be remiss to
not thank John Solis for all
of his hard work and dedication to the club over the
past years. Under his lead
he saw memberships dou-
ble and events such as pig
dinner donor parties and
homecoming tailgates
flourish. Solis will be staying on and helping me
transition seamlessly into
this role.
If you have any questions
on any of the current and
future goals of the club, or
upcoming events please
feel free to contact me at
any time at either
admin@1848Club.net,
TMengle21@gmail.com or
615-517-0071.
I look forward to hopefully
seeing all of you at Pig Dinner on April 20th.

Fixing the Study Room
Pulling
nails...
In January Brian Grooms and
Billy Leslie led an effort to
renovate the study room.
With the help of several
graduate and undergraduate
brothers the ceiling was reinforced and the room above
is now livable once again.
The bathroom in the apartment was also renovated. A
big thanks is owed to all the
brothers who came out to
help.

Gamma Alpha Pledge Class
“They’re small, but
they’re good.” - Jesse
Lilligren
We have recently had the
honor of ending the Beta
phase of pledge classes with
the induction of our new
pledge brothers Enis Cirak,
Parker Burton, and Hunter
Parker into the Gamma Alpha pledge class.
We look forward with great
anticipation to what this and
future Gamma pledge classes may accomplish within
Theta Tau.
A more in depth look at our
pledge brothers will be included in a future issue of
