Phi Gams Win Five Firsts In 1982
The men of Nu Omega worked hard last spring and
this fall winning five first-place awards and two
seconds.
In May, we placed second in Sooner Scandals
thanks to the hard work of Director David Cook and
about 30 brothers. In September, we entered the
Delta Gamma Anchor Splash, winning overall from
16 other fraternities. Brother Alan Morrison placed
second in the Anchor Splash contest. In October,
with the help of the Phi Gam Little Sis's, headed by
Brother Greg Price and the hard work of Tim Nye,

President's Report
w
Dear Brothers,
In case you haven't heard, it's been a very exciting yearfor the Nu Omega Chapter ofPhi Gamma
Delta. Although we have had many successes, we must not slacken our efforts to be a Chapter that
both our undergraduate and graduate brothers can be proud of. You, the graduate brothers, have been
a very important part of our success. It is your support and encouragement that has led us toward
greatness, but it is the strength of the undergraduate brothers that will keep the chapter on top. We
have already begun our summer rush program, which promises to be our most successful rush ever.
Organization is the key to rush, and wefeel that we have the right man in Brother Brad Rollow ('84).
Myself and the new cabinet are lookingforward to the upcoming year; we have great plansfor Nu
Omega, and we are anxious to carry them out. Two ofthe areas that we are going to give special atten
tion to are increased committee organization and greater involvement in Campus activities.
Finally, Ilookforward to meeting all ofyou at Pig Dinner on March 26th. I would like to encourage
you to come and meet the undergraduate brothers. We are confident that 1983 will be a great yearfor
Nu Omega.
Fraternally,
Kevin W. Fisher, '85

Abolish Hazing
The officers for 1983 were elected just before
Christmas break. They are: Kevin Fisher (Chicago,
IL) President; David Armstrong (Pittsburgh, PA)
Treasurer; Vance Beagles(Okla. City, OK)Recording
Secretary; Wayne Wiseman (Bartlesville, OK) Cor
responding Secretary; and Paul O'Leary (Lawton,
OK) Historian.
The house would like to thank David Blackwood
and his officers for their dedication to the fraternity
during the past year.
The members of Nu Omega have voted this fall to
abolish all forms of physical and heavy mental haz
ing. Our pledge program is to emphasize scholarship,
activities, and fraternity. We feel we are taking a
leadership position on campus in this area. Many
other fraternities at OU still practice abusive hazing.

Board Of Chapter Advisors Report
The year 1982 has seen a tremendous change in
numbers, attitudes and awards on campus for Nu
Omega. We have accomplished a great deal but
scholarship and rush are the number one items on our
agenda for the spring semester. We have a big pro
blem due to numbers. The total active members in the
house for the second semester will number 36 with 25
pledges.
Due to the past unfortunate circumstances we have
lost legacies to other fraternities. Thus, our numbers
have been reduced. We need names of legacies and
top rushess. SEND THEM NOW to Brad Rollow,
Rush Chairman, 1200 S. College, Bill Bozalis or Don
Haskins, 5222 North Portland, Oklahoma City.
To all fathers of sons who planning to enter OU in
the fall - PHI GAM NEEDS AND WANTS EVERY
With the redirection of the chapter to excellence in
areas of scholarship, activities on campus, and rush,
we feel we are beginning to make great strides in the
rebirth of Nu Omega. The new house mother, Mrs.
Robert Price, is a fine lady. She is every bit the equal
of Mrs. Kramer (Mimi). We have reinstituted the
songs, dress code, and conduct on campus. The
young men have responded well.. Your fraternity is
back with the ideals and stature on campus that you
would want. With your support we shall continue to
be successful.
The BCA instituted a "speaker program". In
November Bill Lockard spoke on self image and

clean house and that the house is solid.

The BCA would also like to thank the following

New House Mother
To Begin Tenure At Nu Omega
The Pig Dinner will be March 26th at the Sheraton
Century Plaza Ballroom in Oklahoma City.Graduates
Bill Bell and Dick Lampton are working with Brother
Vance Beagles to make this a gala affair. This will be
an "old fashioned" Pig Dinner. The kind you
remember in the 40's, 50's and 60's. A cocktail party,
dinner and dance with the wives is planned. We plan
to invite rushees to the "dance portion", so if you
have a son and/rushee from your home town, bring
him. Graduate brother Jack Jones, President of
Getty Oil, will be our featured speaker at the dinner.
Mrs. Robert Price of Oklahoma City has consented
to become our new house mother. The chapter is very
excited about her. She is the wife of the late Robert
Price who was a member of Brother Bob Looney's
law firm. Mrs. Price has a nephew who is a Phi Gam
at the University of Tennessee. We hope our associa
tion with her will be a long and happy one.
We have many things to discuss this year and WE
WANT YOUR INPUT. Our goal is to have the
largest turnout ever by our graduates. Contact Bill
Bell, Liberty National Bank - Oklahoma City, or
Vance Beagles, 1200 S. College, Norman for more
information and reservations.
