Lambda Omega Chapter
President's Message
For the past ten years the brothers of Phi Gamma Delta and the
9 November 1993
sisters of Gamma Phi Beta have teamed up in an effort to raise
much needed financial support for London's Women's
Community House and Camp Sechelt. This year, Chris Beach
orchestrated the event, which we are proud to say, raised over
Brothers,
The 1993-94 academic year to date, has exceeded all our
expectations. I am confident that this success will only continue!
The chapter has displayed exceptional merit in three
areas:maintaining a firm control of chapter finances; Increasing
our "Rush" numbers(and subsequently mu number of pledges ),
and developing stronger graduate relations.
The management of chapter finances has been transferred to
"AccPac G.L.". Sean Sweeney (Chapter Treasurer), along with
W. Wayne Pritchard, made this transfer a reality. This new
system enables the chapter to produce variance reports at the
touch of a button - something that in the past, took many hours to
produce. In short, by freeing up this time, we can concentrate on
improving revenue-generating events.
Despite a Downward trend in the number of men interested in
Rushing Fraternities, otu: Rush numbers have increased 63%!
The number of Fall pledges has grown from eight, last year to
thirteen (one deferral for spring pledging). This elevates both the
membership dues' assessments per member, and the amount of
time each member must commit to money-generating events.
Preparations for this year's Norris "Pig" Diimer are almost
complete.
Graduate Sean Gilhuly, and Tim Pollock
(Corresponding Secretary)will be sending out invitations in the
future.
I am very pleased with the success of the chapter to date. To
be sure, this sucess is a product of the dedication from each
graduate and imdergraduate alike. It is unfortimate that I do not
have the space in which to fiilly describe how much fim we've
had to date. Certainly, friendship is the sweetest influence!
I hope that you consider making the time to attend this year's
Norris "Pig" Dinner. The undergratuate chapter is proud of it's
accomplishments, and would like to share them with you.
$3500. Others that deserve special recognition are John Dries,
who provided the chapter with a delicious lasagna diimer the
friday night prior to the event and Mark Bissel who helped in
canvassing local businesses for donations.
At 2:30 on Saturday afternoon, after 27 kilometers of
tireless leaping, we made a presentation of a check for $3500 to
alderman Joe Avola on the steps of City Hall. The Day came to
an end at 627, as we listened to Rick McGhie play great music
and celebrated the Blue Jays World Series Victory. We can only
hope that next years Leapfrog will be as successful.

Graduate Pendant Policy
Homecoming is a very rewarding and important event for our
Fraternity. Not only does it give brothers a chance to express
their concerns regarding undergraduate practices. This year, the
issue of graduate pendants worn by undergraduates was brought
to the forefront. After careful consideration, it was decided, in
accordance to the Fraternity Constitution, that the undergraduate
chapter will no longer order pendants and those brothers already
in possession of pendants will only wear them beneath clothing in
respect for our letters. As a chapter, we hope that our newly
adopted policy will end any further conflicts over this issue.

Thomas" road trip with ladies of Sydenham Hall and the
infamous Harley Hog party. As well, we planed events of a more
serious nature to better acquaint rush and brothers. The 1993/94
rush can only be considered a complete success, not only did we
have a larger rush than the previous year, we also had all but one
of our bids accepted. Building on this successfiil rush we can
only look forward to the next Greek Week.

The Social Report
- Historian
This year promises to be one of the most successfiil and exciting
years, and otir social calender will surely not disappoint. Brother
Lee McLaven has managed to construct a social calendar that
will not only consist of in house events but rather a balance
between wellplaimedhouse parties like Homecoming and the Just
Home Improvement
While the rest of Western spent Fresh week partying, the
brothers of Phi Gamma Delta undertook the job of painting and
preparing the house at 627 Wellington for yet another year. Each
brother contributed $35 and countless hours of time so that our
house could live up to the reputation of being one of the best
cared for, and maintained houses in the Greek community. With
brother Evan Wailoo spear heading the painting effort and
brother Chris deLaat providing food for everyone, the project
was completed successfiilly and fim was had by all. At present,
the Lambda Omega house is in great shape and has earned
nothing but rave revues by all its' visitors.

Do It, as well as out house events with other fiatemities and
sororities. To date, all of our events have gone smoothly and
more importantly, they've all been profitable while still providing
unforgettable times. The Fiji Islander has been plaimed for the
last weekend in March. Like last year, we hope that it will be the
largest Greek party of the year. As like years gone by, Fiji is
still one of the most successfiil and recognized Fraternities on
campus and we hope that the rest of this years' social events go as
well as the first few.

What A Rush!
February 5, 1994
The beginning of 1993/94 school year marked the outset of yet
another rush effort. Building on successes of previous rush

Field Secretary Visits
On Wednesday October 27th, the Lambda Omega chapter of Phi
delivered the Eulogy. Unfortunately, we are imable to print it in
its entirety but some exerptshave been included.
Gamma Delta was visited by our Field Secretary, Doug Draper.
" What will I remember the most about this
Doug spent the weekend with the brothers and was shown a good
time "Western" style. Unlike past Field Secretaries, Doug was
truly
very outgoing and was able to really get a feel for our chapter.
Every brother had a chance to meet with him personally and
many positive suggestions were taken into consideration. As a
result of Doug's visit many words of encouragement were
exchanged and Lambda Omega was proud to hear that in the mind
of our Field Secretary, our chapter is very healthy and well
organized. We all are anxiously awaiting Doug's return next fall,
for the visit only provided us with fond memories.
