New House Mother
Last spring, our housemother of 17 years, Patricia Engelhard,
tragically passed away after a long battle with cancer. Pat had
111th Frank
Norris Pig Dinner a forever-lasting effect on everyone she met and she will be

dearly missed. After Pat’s passing, it was time to search for a
new housemother. In the summer, we selected Cindy Swanson
Homecoming
to be our new housemother. Cindy has previous experience as

a housemother, as she worked as housemother for Alpha Chi
Omega sorority for five years here at UNL. Obviously, Cindy

has big shoes to fill, but everyone in our undergraduate

chapter has done an outstanding job of welcoming her into
the chapter house and spending the time necessary to get to
know her. We look forward to many more years of getting to
know Cindy and her continuing to be our housemother.

111th Frank Norris Pig Dinner
Undergraduate and Graduate Brothers Gathered to
Celebrate the Oldest Tradition in the Entire Greek
Community
On Friday, September 16, our Lambda Nu chapter of Phi Gamma
Delta celebrated the 111th Frank Norris Pig Dinner. Almost 30
graduate brothers from all around the country traveled to
Lincoln to enjoy the oldest tradition in the Greek community
with our undergraduate chapter. Following the festivities at Chez
Hay ballroom, undergraduate and graduate brothers watched the
Husker football game the next day against the Oregon Ducks!
Homecoming 2016
This year’s UNL Homecoming theme was
“There is no place like Nebraska,” and our
chapter created an outstanding yard
display for it. Our chapter teamed up with
Kappa Delta sorority and AGR and Kappa
Sigma fraternities. Designed by President
Preston Parmley, our display featured a
windmill, a model of Memorial Stadium
and even the Omaha skyline. Along with
the yard display, our chapter participated
in Monday Night Live, the blood drive and
jester competition!
Our float featured a model of the arch that goes
over I-80 just outside Kearney, Nebraska.
Newly Initiated Brothers
This Past September, we Initiated Nine New Members into our Chapter
“More Phi Gam Less Self.”
