This year's
game wil l certaintly be crucial not only for the conference title*
but
for
the Rose Bowl bid.
Final arrangements for Purple Garter and the purchase of
a ticket block are stil l being made and wil l be sent out in an
invitation
this August.

President's Pen
Organization and
participation are
the
cornerstones
uPon which
the cabinet at Epsilon Lambda is building for the future.
A total ly
restructured committee system has been implemented to aid the organ
ization process.
A new committee has been added* the senior commit
tee (made up of al l graduating brothers)* whose
function is to keep
experience and
knowledge alive amoung
the underclassmen* especial
ly in the areas of rush* Pledge training and graduate
relations.
Participation is being encouraged by including every chapter member
on at least one committee.
Participation is not restricted to the undergradute
members
but to the graduate members as wel l who can Play an extremely import
ant role in the proper functioning of an undergraduate chapter. Fill
ing such roles as advisor* supplier of rush recommenedations *
and
sometimes financial backing. are some examples.
The mark of an
out
standing chapter is the voluntary active involvement of its graduate
brothers.
However* this has not been occurring as wel l as it
should
at Epsilon Lambda in the recent Past.
Involvement by graduates has
been minimal regarding both the time committments and monetary con
tributions. Both of these are vital to the rejuvenation of the chap
ter house.
For the past few years* the undergraduate members have
largely been on their own financial ly with almost al l
vements to the
house

through general

Fiji Social

There's something about spring
time at MSU that
Puts
a
spark in
the social Program at the Fiji House.
With a moderate budget to work with
we decided to reorder our priorities
as to provide more activities while
shaving our likker expenses.
Our Formal Rush Party
was
at
Brandywine
Clubhouse and once again
demonstrated
to the
rushees
the special
brand of fun the FiJis
have been known to generate at so
cial gatherings. Later in the
term
the house chartered
a
bus to Tiger
Stadium
with a few kegs on
board
for our annual basebal outing. Al
so this term we saw the resurrectio n
of
the Jefferson Buo Dance held
Jointly with the Phi KaPPa Psi fra

This was to commemorate
our association
with
them in
the
Jefferson-Duo. Other activities in
cluded Greek Singi Greek Weeki Senior

We
capped off the year with a somewhat
cold
but tremendously
sucessful
and elaboratley decorated
Fiji IsLand Party.
We are looking forward
to an equal ly active fal l term especial I v
