Dear Graduate Brothers,
As a newly elected president,
I fail to find the job of writing the
"president's message" an easy
one. I could, as past presidents
have done, list chronologically
all of Alpha lota's monumental
achievements of the past quar
ter, and bore you to tears (Don't
get me wrong, we had a very
respectable quarter, but boring
nonetheless.)
I chose, rather, to look to the
future. The next year will be
very crucial for Alpha lota. As
president, I have set a number
of goals for myself as well as the
house.
One of our current priorities is
rush. We wi ll have graduated a

school year and will, therefore,
be in a position that requires us
to pledge 35 good men. This will
give us one of the largest
pledge classes in the house's
history.
The names of any Iowa State
bound young men who you could
recommend would surely be
appreciated I might also point
out that the summer of 1981 will
bring to a close the quarter
system at Iowa State. This will
also cause vast changes in fra

in the school year, to be held
during the semester itself. This
will serve to make the role of
rush even more demanding than
it now is.
Anothei challenge facing the
men at 325 Ash is improving our
communications with you, the
graduate. It is no secret that one
of the main purposes of gradu
ate relations is to aquire finan
cial support for the Alpha lota
physical plant. The time has
come when we can no longer
In conjunction with the two
aforementioned priorities, we
will be looking ahead to our
annual Christmas Party, Purple
Carter, Veishea, Creek Week,
and most importantly. Pig Din
ner. These should keep us busy
for a while, and make a promise
for an exciting five months.
If any of you would like to

would like to say that I would

the two highlights of the quarter

A
very successful rush this quar

Dear Brothers,
Yes, this year we have a new
look. But the changes are far
more than cosmetic. One major
column, however, with only one
a quarter And of course, there
addition is our Brainstorm Inter
ever. There is a return form
included in this issue. Please
view section. This year we will
be interviewing all seven Archons, as well as Bill Zerman
(Michigan '49), the Executive
director; and both the Assistant
Directors, of Chapter Services
and of Programs. We will have
three interviews each quarter
except for spring, when we will
have four. Also in the spring
issue, we will have a summary
article condensing and correl
ating the major viewpoints of all
of the interviews. The questions
asked each will be same, and
will concern the subject of
fraternities in general and Phi
Gamma Delta, specifically. The
staff hopes that this addition will
accomplish its purpose - that of
keeping you informed better on
the larger fraternity issues and
